A Love Affair with Sourdough

A short history

When I(Ted) was a teenager in the 1970's, my Mom made sourdough english muffins from a recipe in the Sunset Book of Breads. They were fantastic and I immediately fell in love with sourdough.  I have pretty much been making sourdough bread ever since.

Over the years I have learned about the health benefits of naturally leavened sourdough bread.  But the primary reason I have kept making sourdough bread is because it tastes so good and has a hearty, substantial consistency. I also love the simplicity of the process.  All you need is flour, water and salt.

We mix all our bread and pizza dough by hand in large tubs, let it ferment slowly and bake it in a hot brick oven.
